Taking on the World, One Step at a Time

I guess you are here because you want to know a little about me. The most important you should know is that I am not very good at talking about myself.

My name is Aisha Ahmed, aka Umm B aka Umm Bilal, and by the mercy of Allah ﷻ, my path has been one of learning, teaching, and serving.

I began my journey as a trained pharmacist.

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy (BPharm)  from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy (MClinPharm) from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen

..but my passion quickly expanded beyond medicine into the heart of what truly shapes lives: faith, family, and relationships.

I am a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator—supporting not only in parenting, but also relationships and workspaces. As a parent coach, I trained with the Jai Institute, completing their program three times—as a parent, a coach, and finally, a Master Coach. I serve as a group leader in Simplicity Parenting. In addition, I lead in the Gottman Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work and have trained in Peaceful Parenting with Dr. Laura Markham.

As a coach, speaker, and trainer with the John Maxwell Team, and a behavioral analyst consultant in the DISC method, I help people understand themselves and others more deeply, navigate relationships and lead, with clarity and compassion. I then also did another parent coaching certification with Dr Deborah Tillman (America’s supernanny) 😀.

My love for early childhood education is reflected in my two AMI Montessori diplomas, covering early childhood development from birth to six years. I am currently pursuing specialization as a reading coach, with a focus on supporting children with dyslexia in sha’a Allah.

I am honoured to be a student of sacred knowledge. I am currently an ‘Alimiyyah student at Qalam Institute, from where I hold a diploma in Arabic Language, a diploma in Foundational Islamic Studies, and very recently, a foundational certificate in Islamic Sciences from Sealed with Misk based on the curriculumin Madinah. My heart is especially drawn now to the beauty of tajweed and the Arabic language and looking to deepen my relationship with the Qur’an. I founded a tadabbur community and also tutor islamic studies to children via Grounded roots madrassah.

All of these experiences—education, faith, coaching, and teaching—come together with one purpose: to help others, with the permission of Allah, navigate life, faith, family, and relationships with clarity, purpose, and peace.

I homeschool my 6 year old twins – a boy and a girl. Alhamdulillah!

My personal interests include reading, buying and hoarding books. I love crocheting even though I am not good at it. I love to colour and make lists. I am a stationery, and planner addict (You may read ‘addict’ as ‘hoarder’). I am an introvert and a total nerd. I am a foodie who doesn’t always like like to cook. I dabble in photography and I love writing. Well! Except when my career depends on it.

I hope you hang around.

A little more about me

I have been blogging for a while in different niches and mostly as a ghost. I started this one because I realised how underrepresented pharmacists are in the blogosphere. Blogging and writing gives me a break from real life. So this is a chance to be creative, artistic (I cannot draw to save my life), make friends, inspire, be inspired. With my various tips and stories about everything from becoming a pharmacy student, to being a pharmacist, wife, an academic, the struggles in this Dunya, the striving for the Aakhira or just figuring out what next to read.
